Ushers and Acolytes Ushers facilitate the divine service in multiple ways, from passing out bulletins to collecting the offerings. Our acolytes assist by lighting and extinguishing the altar candles and assisting the pastor at the altar. "Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked." Psalm 84:10
